Young Enterprise Quickstart Music Programme

An exciting new programme is about to hit secondary schools.

Called the Quickstart Music Programme, it will enable young people to set up and run their own real music enterprise in school.

Through a combination of theory and practical experience, the 10-week programme, which is aimed at students aged 14 to 16, will enable young entrepreneurs to plan, finance and operate their own music businesses within school.  Advisors from the world of business and the music industry will be on hand to give students the benefit of their experience in all aspects of the industry including A&R, marketing, productions and promotion.

The programme harnesses young people’s natural passion for music, through which they can develop valuable enterprise skills and acquire a sophisticated understanding of the value of intangible assets (copyright).

The programme is being delivered in secondary schools by Young Enterprise, a leading education charity, with industry support from British Music Rights.

British Music Rights supports the Quickstart Music Programme because it encourages not only creativity but the business and enterprise skills young people will need to develop viable careers and businesses from ideas.  We also hope that, by encouraging the creators and consumers of tomorrow to develop a respect for their own and others’ creative work, and a real appreciation of the value of music, we will ensure the UK music sector remains healthy in the future.

Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading business and enterprise education charity.  With more than 40 years' experience of developing and delivering tried-and-tested and tailor-made enterprise learning solutions, Young Enterprise currently reaches more 320,000 young people a year through the involvement and support of 3,500 UK businesses.
