The 'Sound Advice' Roadshow, which took place in 2002 and 2004, was the first unilateral cross-industry initiative of its kind to support music business education and live music. It aimed to provide music students with an opportunity to learn about careers within the music business and about wider industry issues, from leading industry figures. It also aimed to highlight the importance of live music by staging a series of regional showcases, giving students and the public the opportunity to see local emerging artists.
Each of the organisations involved* provided expert panellists who participated in panel discussions covering the creative, business, and rights and royalties aspects of the music business and had the opportunity to comment on such central issues as the importance of live music, the value of copyright and the role of music education and training in safeguarding the future of the business.
