MIDEM
January
Each January, the global music industry’s key players meet in Cannes to do deals, network, learn about the sector’s future, and check out new talent. MIDEM attracts nearly 10,000 delegates from almost 100 countries, from the recording, publishing, live, sync, digital and mobile sectors. As well as its main exhibition, MIDEM also offers conferences, concerts, events and business services.
British Music Rights is a member of the 'British Music at Midem' grouping of organisations, which comprises AIM, BPI, BAC&S, BMR, MCPS-PRS Alliance, MPA, MMF, PPL, Welsh Music Foundation, and Scottish Development International, and is supported by UKTI*.
Each year the group joins forces each year to host one of the biggest stands at Midem - the 'British Music at Midem' stand - which represents more than 200 British companies and more than 300 delegates.
As part of its programme of activity at Midem, the British Music at Midem group also organises a reception for a UK Minister. This provides an opportunity for the Minister to meet with music representatives from across the industry and demonstrate the Government's support for the British companies attending, and is an important acknowledgement of the economic, cultural, and artistic importance of the British music industry in the international arena.
The group also stages the 'British at Midem' showcases, popular for their strong contemporary line-up. Each year the showcases highlight fantastic emerging talent and have played host to some great names, including Razorlight, the Delays, Skin, Ladytron, Sway, Tom Baxter, Skye, Goldie Lookin Chain, and Martina Topley-Bird.
