The British Composer Awards are a unique celebration of the music of classical composers living and working in the UK and Northern Ireland. Established in 2003, the Awards have brought a new visibility to contemporary composers, and are fast becoming an eagerly anticipated fixture on the classical music scene.
As hosts to the Awards, the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters continues to work in partnership with the Performing Right Society, whose commitment as major sponsor makes the Awards possible, and with BBC Radio 3 who bring a wealth of experience of new music and are able to promote the Awards to a wider public. The Academy also continues its fruitful partnerships with the PRS Foundation, with the Worshipful Company of Musicians and with Making Music.
